CARICATURES-The process of drawing Custom Designs for clients

THE COMPLETED ILLUSTRATION FOR "BAGBY FAMILY CHRISTMAS"
This is the pencil drawing step, just prior to inking.
The layout or "rough-in" stage is the first step. It is here that I work out the design problems.

My desktop becomes somewhat of a "shrine" to these happy folks while I am working on the caricature.

Before all of this, of course, are the necessary email communications, etc.
What fun it is to become a part of people's lives and celebrations this way.
And, oh what fun it is to ride in a one-dog open sleigh!

  Enjoy, Eileen

"THE COOPER CHRISTMAS CARD"

Custom Caricature Illustration/"The Cooper Christmas Card"/
Original drawing by Eileen McCoy, Artist

Each year, for several years now, the Cooper family
(of Remax, Kansas City) contracted my services for their annual Christmas Card. The cards have told the story of their changing family over the years. This year is special as they have added a grandchild!

My family has been compelling me to get around to drawing our card again. Finally, I have gotten it completed. Look for the McCoy Family Christmas Caricature
on the blog next week.

(To order one of your own for next year, visit my website/contact me page. But order early!)

  Enjoy, Eileen

"COLORADO AUTUMN"

Daily Painting #134/"Colorado Autumn"/Original oil painting on panel 6"X8"

This small painting was started in the weekend workshop with artist, Phil Starke.
I finished it up in the studio today as I had a fresh eye. With this series, I am really working on pushing the background into the distance and drawing the viewer's eye to the subject matter. Also, the edges are "lost" or blurred in appropriate places.
This scene was in an area of Colorado outside of Steamboat, called "Pinnacle Point".

Enjoy, Eileen

"Trees Among The Fields"

Daily Painting #100/"Trees Among the Fields"/Original oil painting on panel 8"X10"

In Missouri, the fields of autumn prairie grass sometimes appear yellow, gold, burnt orange or even pink, depending upon the light. Here is another in my landscape series.
Enjoy, Eileen

"The Urban Caveman"

Custom Caricature Illustration for Business/"The Urban Caveman"

Here is one of the business logo caricature drawings I created for a  Kansas City client this month. His website, in case you are interested, promotes a healthy way of eating and living in urban society.
For this type of caricature, the client sends photos via email, tells me a bit about the business objectives, and I go to work.

I have several paintings to post from the Phil Starke weekend workshop.
Look for these in the coming days!
 Enjoy, Eileen
