Germany Paintings: "Point and Shoot in Yellow Suit""

Daily Painting #180/"Point and Shoot in Yellow Suit"/Original oil painting on panel 8"X6"

Not sure you can tackle a particular painting challenge?  Sometimes you've got to push yourself and dare to make mistakes in order to progress. This little gem was one of those. I was avoiding it, thinking it too complex-but the reflected light bouncing around in the yellow shadows were most enticing. It was a balancing act of certain strokes of warm and cool colors.

This subject was part of a small wedding party on the City Hall steps in Freudenstadt, Germany.

 Enjoy, Eileen

They say a picture is worth a thousand words...This was one of many breathtaking views in Freudenstadt Germany, home of our beloved German friends.

Paintings of Germany: White Rose of Travemunde

2012© SOLD

Daily Painting #177/"White Rose of Travemunde"/Original oil painting on panel 8"X6"

Yes, I took time to stop and smell the roses on our vacation. This beautiful white rose welcomed us to our cottage on the northern coast of Germany in Travemunde.
It interests me how the grand weight of this top-heavy rose is held aloft by the remarkably thin stem; nature's balancing-act, if you will...

Daily Painting #176/"Freudenstadt Wedding, Germany"/Original oil painting on panel 8"X6"
In Freudenstadt, Germany, this lovely wedding party posed for pictures on the stairs of the City Hall in the market place. I couldn't resist capturing the postures of these darling children who were part of this quaint event in the City's marketplace; the largest
of it's kind in Germany.

Germany: Bavarian Alps

Daily Painting #175/"Bavarian Alps"/Original oil painting on panel 8"X6"
© 2012
Our first stop in Germany was in a quaint cottage in Bavaria. Bavarians take great pride in their wonderful tradition, and unique food items-(fabulous-I am hooked on the pretzels)!
Bavaria shares international borders with Austria, the Czech Republic, and Switzerland- and, therefore, the beautiful Alps.
I was careful, in this painting, to keep the blues really pure and vivid.

Germany Series: Dresden Clocktower

Daily Painting #174/"Dresden Clocktower"/Original oil painting on panel 8"X6"

Dresden, once referred to as "The Florence of the North", is a city reborn after being destroyed by bombing in WWII. It is alive, once again, with magnificent structures including this clocktower; part of the Gemäldegalerie Alte Meister in the gallery area.

Think Pink

Portrait of Audrey

Daily Painting #173/"Think Pink"/Original oil painting on panel 8"X8"

I'm sneaking in one of the portraits I painted prior to our tour of Germany. This is the lovely daughter of some friends, whose photo I found on facebook and thought it to be a delightful subject to paint. So, watch out, my facebook friends! You might get a painting done!

Freiburg Flowers

Daily Painting #172/"Freiburg Flowers"/Original oil painting on panel 8"X6"
Germany is a country filled with castles, cathedrals and flowers....many, many flowers. One of our stops was in Freiburg, Germany where a dear woman, Dorthia (Dorothy), blessed us with a fabulous luncheon; the table upon which set this vase of flowers. There was so much joy in the meal preparation. How blessed we were to be her guests. Then, she gave us a tour of Freiburg, a city filled with bicycles and church bells.
